A Song On The New Green Day Record Is Inspired By The Paris Terror Attacks

Green Day have revealed that they wrote a song for the new album Revolution Radio inspired by the Paris terror attacks.

The November attacks which claimed the lives of 89 people at Paris’ Bataclan Theatre took place during an Eagles Of Death Metal’s gig. Billie Joe Armstrong is friends with EODM guitarist Eden Galindo and said the attacks hit very close to home for him.

“I don’t think anything like terrorism hit home right in our backyard the way it did that night,”

The song is called Troubled Times and he considered not putting it on the album.

“I wrote it and thought ‘I don’t know if I want this on the album.’ It’s really heavy to write about and I didn’t want it to be trite or maudlin.”

He changed his mind after the shootings at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub in June.

“When Orlando happened, I thought ‘Well, it makes perfect sense to put it on the record.’,” he said.
