Bono reportedly rescued by armed police during Nice terror attack

U2 frontman Bono was reportedly rescued by armed police while dining in a restaurant in Nice during last week’s terror attacks in the French city.

Last Thursday night (July 14), a truck ploughed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the southern city. The crash left 85 people dead and 202 others injured.

The driver of the truck Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel was later shot dead by police and the incident is being treated as a terror attack. The Mirror reports that Bono was on the terrace of La Petite Maison, a restaurant on the Nice seafront and near where the attack took place. The band later posted a message to Twitter, saying, “Love is bigger than anything in its way”.

Meanwhile, the music and film world has reacted on social media to the Nice terror attack. In April, Bono suggested sending Sacha Baron Cohen and Amy Schumer as weapons to combat ISIS. The U2 frontman was speaking to the US Senate about how comedy could defeat terrorism.
