Japandroids add Kiwi rockers Yukon Era to the bill for upcoming NZ shows

Canadian rockers Japandroids are bringing their exhilarating live show to New Zealand this week, with support just announced from Kiwi indie-rockers Yukon Era.

The Vancouver duo, who have earned their reputation on raucous and raw live performances – the kind you’d expect from a five-piece band – play Kings Arms in Auckland on Friday July 21 and San Fran in Wellington on Saturday July 22.

The shows follow the release of their critically-acclaimed third album NEAR TO THE WILD HEART OF LIFE.

“There’s plenty of NEAR TO THE WILD HEART OF LIFE that carries the essential appeal of the band in spades, namely, a dedication to giving it your all until you collapse with euphoria and exhaustion.” – Drowned In Sound

Japandroids will be supported on the New Zealand leg of their tour by Kiwi up-and-comers Yukon Era. Since forming in 2015, the three-piece has released two EPs and supported international acts such as The Cult and The Reubens, as well as playing a slot at this year’s Laneway Festival in Auckland.

Yukon Era occupies a space in time where Metz are a click away from Black Sabbath and where it’s completely acceptable to mention Mac DeMarco and Metallica in the same breath. Their playful vocals, which lull into an indie throwback mood, paired with their use of rhythm and dynamic songwriting have made them favourites on the local live music scene
