Kiwi Aly Cook’s Western Line enjoys a 5th week at #1 on Australian Country Tracks Top 40

Kiwi Aly Cook’s Western  Line enjoys a 5th week at #1  on Australian Country Tracks Top 40  Airplay Chart. The song about taking the Sydney Trains is steaming ahead on the charts.

Western Line also hit number #1 on the Tasmanian Chart & climbed to #6 on the UK hotdisc.   This has now matched a personal record to Cook’s earlier release ‘Message in a Cloud’ from the same album ‘Horseshoe Rodeo Hotel‘, which spent 5 weeks at #1. As is ride on charts continues.

“Again I pay special tribute to  my producer Alan Jansson and those that played on the track including Nik Brown (The Warratahs), Dean Hetherington ( The Souwesters/Coalrangers) Jimmy Lawrie (Rocking Horse/Dave McCartneys Pink Flamincos and more) and of course those fabulous guest vocals from Brendan Dugan and the late Graham Brazier, whom I wish had been here to see this. Next week Graham’s album ‘Left Turn at Midnite’ will posthumously  release. We had recorded our albums at the same time and lovingly our producer has completed Graham’s final album.  I am so grateful that his voice is on ‘Western Line’ but sad that he is not here to see it’s success. I will be at the Graham Brazier – Left turn at Midnite album launch in Auckland next week.  RIP Graham & thank you  x ”

Aly’s previous single Kimberley bounced back up to #36 this week , the song now having had a run of 36 weeks on the chart, breaking a chart record.

From Australian Country Tracks Chart Top 40   “Aly Cook sets a new record for the longest chart run by any single, during the current chart ownership, and possibly the entire chart history, with “Kimberley” which records its 36th week on the chart. ”

NB The  Country Tracks  Top 40 chart is Australia’s leading Country Music Chart compiled from Radio Airplay of Tracks Release in Australia. Published since 1989.

Cook said ” I believe the popularity of Kimberley has been helped by it being used in an advert on Imparja TV for local East Kimberley toursim attractions. The support of local tourism and people who have shared the video… Also as Western Line has gone to #1 often Announcers interviewing me will play Kimberley leading into the interview and Western line after,   Plus the place is just magic! “

“I am forever greatful for the airplay support I receive in Australia and abroad, also of any exposure in New Zealand the music gets.  In any given week I will do several interviews all over Australia on radio. I love talking to the people in the small towns and the big cities, I love the way they support me as a kiwi releasing music in Australia, it’s a very welcoming family across the ditch! The Country Music Radio family, as I like to call them, is what has inspired me to start my series of writings called “The Radio Features” where I write about the personalities on Radio and is now on Music Talks XYZ as a monthly column. “
