Graeme James releases new single – The Difference

Following the success of his debut album of original songs, News From Nowhere, comes the latest single from Graeme James, The Difference.

Featuring restless electric guitars and punchy mandolin over a driving rhythm section, Graeme James’ brand new track ’The Difference’ showcases his trademark layering and foot stomping energy. Impassioned lyrics and rousing fiddle add to the wistful nature of this atmospheric folk epic.

The Difference is Graeme’s first release since signing to indie record label, Nettwerk in May – an exciting step for the long time independent artist, who made his name busking to crowds on the streets of New Zealand and tirelessly touring the country.

“I was astounded to receive an email from the CEO of Nettwerk, Terry McBride,” said Graeme about the signing. “To be approached out of the blue by a label that has so many of my favourite folk and indie acts is mind blowing. It’s been a perfect fit for me from a creative perspective and I can’t wait to share this new music with the world.”

The signing caps off a whirlwind 12 months for Graeme James, with breakout singles Alive and One + One racking up over 3 million plays between them, and Alive placing second in the singer songwriter/folk category of the international songwriting competition Unsigned Only.  Inaddition to the success of the singles, the album News From Nowhere achieved a number three position on the NZ Album chart after its release last year, and was a finalist in the 2017 Vodafone Music Awards for NZ Folk Album of the Year.

Graeme James has built a large and loyal fan base with his captivating live shows and unique folk style, performing with the aid of a loop pedal to layer electric violin, guitar, bass, baritone ukulele, mandolin, harmonica, percussion, and beatboxing in his one-man-band sound.

The Difference is available everywhere today and supported by a release party in Graeme’s hometown Wellington, playing at San Fran with fresh indie folk duo LOST BiRD.
